Rotary, junto con la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud, UNICEF, los Centros para el Control y Prevenci\u00f3n de Enfermedades en EEUU y la Fundaci\u00f3n Bill y Melinda Gates est\u00e1n llevando a cabo el impulso final para erradicar la polio en el mundo. El n\u00famero total de nuevos casos ha disminuido un 99,9% desde que comenz\u00f3 la iniciativa mundial para la erradicaci\u00f3n de la Polio, pasando de 350.000 nuevos casos en 1988 a 74 en 2015.<\/p>\n
Desde 1985, Rotary ha participado en la vacunaci\u00f3n de m\u00e1s de 2.500 millones de ni\u00f1os, ha aportado m\u00e1s de 1.400 millones de d\u00f3lares y ha ayudado a captar m\u00e1s de 7.200 millones de d\u00f3lares de donaciones de gobiernos. Los esfuerzos finales est\u00e1n centrados en Afganist\u00e1n y Pakist\u00e1n.<\/p>\n
Por ello estamos orgullosos de nuestra contribuci\u00f3n como rotarios y queremos celebrar con todo el mundo el D\u00eda Mundial de la Polio.<\/p>\n
Nuestro Distrito lo va a celebrar aportando al programa Polio Plus el 20% de sus Fondos Distritales Designados que equivalen a 7.150 d\u00f3lares. La Fundaci\u00f3n Rotaria se ha comprometido este ejercicio en contribuir tambi\u00e9n con un 50% de la aportaci\u00f3n distrital (3.575 d\u00f3lares) y la Fundaci\u00f3n Bill y Melinda Gates a doblar la suma de ambas aportaciones (21.450 d\u00f3lares). En resumen, la aportaci\u00f3n de nuestro Distrito de 7.150 d\u00f3lares a Polio Plus se convierte efectivamente en 32.175 d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n
